The problem
The client was dealing with a water-ingress issue affecting a high-level area of a Chelsea property. The suspected external entry points were difficult to inspect properly using conventional access methods, which limited the amount of useful information available from ground level.
Before remedial works could be planned effectively, the relevant external areas needed to be viewed at close range so visible defects and potential water paths could be assessed more accurately.
Our solution
SW TEAM LTD established rope access to reach the relevant external areas of the building and carry out a close visual investigation around the suspected water-ingress location.
Being positioned directly at the elevation allowed the team to inspect building details that could not be assessed reliably from the ground. The investigation focused on gathering practical information about the condition of the high-level external areas and identifying visible defects that could be relevant to the reported ingress.
Rope access kept the investigation targeted and avoided installing extensive temporary access simply to obtain a close inspection of a relatively localised area.
The outcome
The high-level investigation was completed in one day and gave the client clearer information about the external areas associated with the water-ingress problem.
The findings could then be used to support the next stage of repair planning rather than committing immediately to broad remedial works without first gaining direct access to the suspected problem area.
