The problem
The client had bulky items that could not be moved into position through the normal internal route. The items would not fit in the building's lift and could not be taken safely through the stairwell without creating a significant risk of damage to the property or the items themselves.
With the conventional access routes ruled out, the client needed an alternative way of moving the loads into the property without major dismantling or disruptive alterations inside the building.
Our solution
SW TEAM LTD assessed the external access route and planned a controlled rope access lifting operation. The proposed route, load movement, working area and receiving position were considered before the lift was undertaken so the operation could be carried out in a planned sequence.
The items were secured using appropriate lifting and restraint arrangements before being moved externally. The team controlled the working area and used specialist rope access techniques to guide the loads through the required route while maintaining control throughout the movement.
Because the operation took place externally, the client was able to avoid attempting to force the items through unsuitable internal spaces. The method also reduced the likelihood of damage to walls, staircases, lifts and internal finishes.
The outcome
The bulky items were successfully moved into position using the external route, avoiding the lift and stairwell entirely.
The project provided the client with a practical solution when the normal routes through the building were no longer an option. The operation was completed in one day and avoided the need for significant internal dismantling or alterations purely to move the items through the property.
