The problem
The client needed difficult-to-access concrete ledges cleaned as part of improving the external appearance of the building. The areas were positioned at height and could not be treated effectively using straightforward ground-based access.
The project therefore required both an appropriate high-level access method and a controlled cleaning process suitable for the concrete surfaces. Installing extensive temporary access solely to reach the targeted ledges would also have added considerably to the scale of the operation.
Our solution
SW TEAM LTD planned the high-level access so technicians could work directly at the concrete ledges requiring treatment. Rope access allowed the cleaning team to move between the targeted areas while keeping the access footprint comparatively small.
The DOFF cleaning system was then used to carry out controlled specialist cleaning to the agreed concrete areas. The work sequence was planned around the building and the location of the ledges so each section could be treated systematically.
Using specialist access alongside the DOFF system meant the cleaning operation could focus directly on the high-level surfaces rather than relying on equipment positioned a significant distance away from the workface.
The outcome
The targeted concrete ledges were cleaned and their external appearance improved without the project requiring extensive temporary access around the building.
The combination of rope access and specialist DOFF cleaning provided a practical solution for isolated high-level areas and allowed the works to be completed with a limited access footprint around the property.
